2018 Plans

2017 was a busy year with a fell marathon for Matt, a 100km Thames path walk for me, Matt, Derek (my dad) and some awesome work colleagues, Hayley and Andy, with Maddy joining us at the halfway point for an overnight 50k and my sister and niece completing the final 25k with us. 💪🏻

We also managed to gather a few thousand pounds from our children’s charity swim, the Duchenne Dip, which was an utterly inspiring event.

I am woefully behind on writing up an account of these events but suffice it to say, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has challenged themselves or donated to get us to our current total of over £42,000!

We have more challenges planned for 2018; depite some recent irritating injuries…

Pennine Way walking & running:

Maddy is walking the rather hilly 268 miles of the Pennine Way from the Peak District to Scotland in July, with me in tow as her packhorse.  This is no mean feat for anyone, let alone a 16 year-old and I’m hugely proud of her for contemplating it.  I am then hoping to run-walk my way back to the Derbyshire start line, covering the 268 miles back in just 10 days.

Maddy & I will set off from Edale on Thursday July 12th and head north, camping, youth hostelling and staying in bunk houses as we go.  We will have a tracker with us and I will post a link so anyone who is interested can follow our progress online.  I will also, as ever, post some pics and stories on social media daily.  I am anticipating arriving back in Edale on or around August 9th.

Duchenne Dip

We are also hoping, time and availability of the pool and diving photographers allowing, to hold our third Duchenne Dip later in the year.  So looking forward to it!
