Prior to 2014, Matt had run no further than 6 miles at at time and hadn’t completed any kind of race since his school days. Over a glass of wine one evening, we talked about the devastating situation our friends found themselves in, when their four-year old son was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. In a spur of the moment decision, he entered a marathon to raise funds to further the quest for a cure. And he hasn’t looked back since, deciding to take on a marathon a month throughout 2016. He has now completed all of his planned races: 15 in total, 8 of them fell or trail marathons. What a star!

Well, he’s only gone and done it!!!!
Matt has run a gruelling marathon over the Derbyshire and Staffordshire Dales. 26.2 miles with 5800 feet of ascent, described as”possibly one of the hardest marathons in the country”, he nailed it in 5 hours and 40 minutes, coming in 12th place!
What makes this even more monumental, is that up until February, when he entered for this insane challenge, Matt had never run more than 6 miles on flat ground (apart from one race as an 11 year-old)!
We are all so proud of the training he has put in and the determined grit he showed on the day as he battled over the hills in sweltering heat. Awesome achievement Matt!!!
