The Duchenne Dip is an annual children’s charity swim in aid of Duchenne UK. For more information on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy or to see who has prompted us to fundraise, please see here.
2016 saw the first of what we hope will be many Duchenne Dip events. It was held at Waterfield Leisure Centre in Melton Mowbray. The event is a collective swim by young people between the ages of 6 and 18 years old. We take any range of swim ability, from two lengths to a mile!
Our swimmers each receive a snack bag, filled with delicious treats, previously generously donated by Sainsbury’s.
We have a cake stall, brimming with delicious baked goods, a tombola and a soft drinks stall, all of which contribute to a fun evening and an excellent fundraising total.
We are lucky enough to have some incredibly skilled diving photographers, Rob, Pash & Saeed, who spent hours capturing the whole thing from beneath the surface, giving us an fantastic ‘fish eye’ view of these kids as they thrash their way way up and down the pool. We work hard to make sure there is at least one portrait of each child, so they can download it after the event as a moment. Check out some of their fantastic pics below! 🙂 All their equipment, time and expertise is given absolutely free of charge. They are wonderful.
At the end of the evening, each swimmer is presented with a medal and certificate to mark their achievement.
Across our previous two Duchenne Dip events, these young people and their families have helped us raise a staggering £7,000!
If this all sounds like fun, then please get in touch to ask any questions or to register your interest for the next date. info@endduchenne.co.uk
